Manage recording permissions
Setting contract
Section titled “Setting contract”| Item | Current behavior |
|---|---|
| Default | macOS decides the initial permission state; Synthezia has no independent default grant. |
| Valid values | Granted, denied, not determined, restricted, or unsupported. |
| Existing sessions | No stored session is changed. A denied capture can leave a new recording session in an error state. |
| New sessions | Live recording and voice input require microphone access; supported system audio additionally needs Screen Recording access. |
| Storage | macOS privacy controls, not Synthezia settings storage. |
| Privacy | Permissions authorize local capture only; they do not choose a summary provider. |
| Restart | Quit and reopen after changing Screen Recording access. |
Change it safely
Section titled “Change it safely”- Open Settings and find macOS Permissions.
- Request microphone access when macOS has not asked yet, or open the relevant System Settings pane when it has been denied.
- Grant Screen Recording only when you need the beta macOS system-audio path.
- Quit and reopen Synthezia after changing Screen Recording access.
The reset control removes Synthezia’s macOS Microphone and Screen Recording privacy entries so macOS asks again. It does not delete recordings, sessions, models, or exports.
