Audio conversion fails
Symptoms
Section titled “Symptoms”An imported file or completed recording stops while the session status says Converting or enters an error before transcription begins.
Likely causes
Section titled “Likely causes”The source file may be unreadable, use an unsupported codec combination, be damaged, or encounter a missing or unusable FFmpeg sidecar.
Fast checks
Section titled “Fast checks”Keep the source file, preserve the full conversion message, and verify that the failure occurred before transcription. An extension alone does not prove the file’s codec is compatible.
Resolution
Section titled “Resolution”Try a known-good local WAV only to isolate the source-media condition. For a repeatable failure with an approved release artifact, report the source container and codec details rather than presenting a broad compatibility claim.
Data-loss warning
Section titled “Data-loss warning”Do not delete the original file or reset sessions. Conversion writes normalized audio locally but ordinary reset behavior does not establish complete audio cleanup.
Information to collect for support
Section titled “Information to collect for support”Collect the source extension and codec details if available, file duration, exact error, application version, and whether a known-good WAV converts.
